Vacant/derelict properties back into use
This funding has enabled the redevelopment of a number of properties in Wellington Town Centre. This will create opportunities for high quality retail and residential space that reflects the high standards of heritage conservation appropriate to Wellington’s status as historic market towns improving the attractiveness to residents, business and visitors.
Repurposing of commercial floor space
This funding has enabled the delivery of a pilot project to provide new quality employment space through adaptation of vacant commercial floor space in Wellington town centre. The project will provide quality ‘drop down’ 24/7 accessible space to support an increase in number of enterprises utilising high quality, affordable and sustainable space.
Station Quarter
Until recently, Station Quarter has been dominated by office developments, a number of which have now reached the end of their economic life and have been demolished. This has left cleared sites creating a platform for a generational opportunity to bring forward new uses and a new focus to the area. Station Quarter provides the opportunity to create high quality, connected and accessible education, living and working spaces that reflects the Towns Deal Board’s aspiration to be at the forefront of radical changes in how people live and work. The Accelerated funding has supported the development of the first phase of this project. View more information about the Station Quarter project.
